Purpose
The purpose of the SGA is to promote fellowship and sportsmanship at Firethorne Country Club among members who enjoy playing competitive golf primarily from the Sedgefield tees at full handicap, to promote the true spirit of the game of golf by encouraging proper etiquette and enforcement of the rules of the game as defined by the United States Golf Association (USGA) and to encourage the active participation of its members in weekly play and golf tournaments played in a positive and competitive environment.

Weekly Events
SGA members play every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Play any or all of those days or a couple times a month. It's entirely up to you and your schedule. We play at full handicaps and golfers of all handicap levels are welcome.

We send out weekly emails to SGA members and you simply let us know the day before if you are playing. Our tee times are:

      ·         Thursday 9 holes – First tee time about 2:30 pm
      ·         Saturday 18 holes – First tee time about 8:20 am
Holiday Events and Social Activities
We have holiday events (Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day) on Saturday of the holiday weekend. Usually there are 8 or more teams, while some of the ladies (spouses group) have a separate but coordinated 9 hole event.  Afterwards, there are several optional events – dinner and couples Big Break Style chipping and putting contests.
