Rules

Stroke play:   Each player plays his ball all the way to the hole. All strokes are counted. The ball must be “holed out”.  The ball must be played as it lies.  USGA rules apply. Rules of play will be reviewed prior to each round to address course conditions and/or allowances.

Rain-outs:      Rounds will not be made up if there is a “wash out” ... there is no rain date.  The round will count if all players play the same 9 holes. Prize payouts may be adjusted depending on the circumstances. The awards dinner on Friday night will be held regardless.

Event “Local Rules”:

  • Leaf Rule – a ball that is lost in-bounds in a leaf covered area may be played in the leaf area where the ball was observed to land and come to rest with no penalty. The ball must be dropped.

  • “Hard pan” or “Root Rule” – with the agreement of an opponent, a ball that comes to rest on a “hard pan” area where rocks/stones/roots are near enough to the ball that a club would hit the rocks while striking the ball, may be placed without penalty within two club lengths from the spot of the original ball location, on a line from the pin to the original ball location, no closer to the hole. (Note: The objective of this rule is to avoid hitting an unsafe shot and to prevent damage to the golf club.)  However, the root rule does not apply to a ball resting against a tree (possibly unplayable rules apply).
  • Ties - For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of the individual rounds, ties will be resolved by card comparison of the last 9 holes, then last 6, then last 3, then last hole.  Ties for 1st place for the overall two days will be resolved by “sudden death” play-off on holes as determined by James at the time of 2nd round completion.   Allocated prize money for overall 2nd and 3rd place ties will be shared.
