18 players kicked off the Sedgefield season on Wednesday in the chase for Player of the Month and the right to playoff in the September Challenge Cup. The team of Ian Ballard, Mike Maser and Jimmy Powell took top honors with Jim Dickson, Mickey Olsen, Tom Sacco and Mike Understein finishing second.

FCC Update
· 12 Sun Mountain Speed Carts have been ordered and will ship in April.
· Cross hatchings marking the golf course street crossings will be done today.
· In addition to viewing tee times on-line on the Firethorne website, we can now book tee times. Log in, click Member Statements on the left menu, log into the statements website and click reservations at the top.
· Chit details are now available on-line. When viewing your statements on-line, click on the reference number to display the details for that charge.
· New boxes next to #1 and #10 greens have been installed with scorecards, pencils and tees.
· Mulch path was installed from the practice range to the first tee.
· Benches will be installed on #8 & #12.
· The club is reviewing proposals to refurbish the Men’s bar.

· Work has begun on the coping at the pool.
The Challenge Cup. This is how it works:
Players accumulate points based on their team finish on Wednesday's February 29 – August 29. Points are awarded to each player on Wednesday's winning teams:
If we have 4 or more teams, points will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place. If we have three or less team, points will only be awarded for 1st place.
1st Place - 2 points for each player on the team winning the front, back and overall = 6 total points.
2nd Place - 1 point for each player front, back and overall = 3 total points
9 total points are available.
If teams tie any segment, they split the available points. For example, if two teams tie the front, each player gets 1 1/2 points. If three teams tie the front, each player gets 1 point.
Each month the player with the most points is Player of the Month and then everyone’s points reset to zero for the next month. In the event of a tie for any given month the player with the lowest net score for the month wins with any additional ties broken by a putt-off. You can only win Player of the Month one month during the season.
In September there will be a team based playoff of all the Players of the Month. The March, April and May Players of the Month play as a team against the June, July and August Players of the Month for the Challenge Cup and bragging rights. Playoff date in September and format to be determined.
