SGA Couples Golf/Beach Trip Nov 5, 6, 7 - 17
FCC members spent 3 days at Litchfield Beach attacking 3 different golf
courses with some awesome weather backing them up. Days 1 and 2, in shorts and short sleeve
shirts, we played Litchfield CC and Blackmoor GC. Day 3 was a little cooler, long pants and
sweaters. We played The Tradition GC.
4 co-ed
teams of SGAers and spouses squared off for a purse of $130. At the end of day 1, The Duffers (Nelly,
Hermann, Dick, Nancy) were in the lead.
Low net score for the day was a 69 shared by Nelly, Hermann and Kay.
After Day 2,
two teams shared the lead by 3 strokes……The Slicers (Connie, Dave, Laks) and
The 3 Putts (Kay, Mickey, Ken). Low
score was Kay with a 68.
Then after
the close of the crucial Day 3, The Shankers (Mary Beth, Paul, Larry) came
storming from nowhere to take the Championship (and more importantly the
$130). Hermann’s 72 was low for the
day.
So each team
had the lead at one time. Close race!!
Our 2
restaurant choices were pretty good.
Frank’s the first night and Ocean One the second. Ask Mary Beth about Frank’s.
There were 4
non-golfing spouses with us. After all
credit cards were confiscated, they shopped and visited the Brookgreen Gardens
.

room.

Sedgefield Championship Round 1
Great start to the final major of the year, the two day Sedgefield Championship. Greg Hart (2010) currently on injured reserve, was on the first tee for the honorary tee flip to determine teeing order as the previous champions (Eric White – 2013, Tom Kubik – 2012 and Hermann Heid 2011) took the tee. James Thompson hit the ceremonial first drive long and straight.
Rick Armstong with a net 70 and Mike Understein at 71 are on top of the leaderboard. Six others are two strokes back at 72. Full leaderboard below after the pictures.
